prince wesley

we will be celebrating wesley's 3rd birthday in a few short weeks, and as a slightly crazed mother of 1, i have found myself obsessed with THE THEME.  we have talked monsters, pirates, mermaids, prince eric...i really thought wesley was going to go with the mermaids...but it seems we have settled on peter pan (in spite of already having some cute things for a monster party).  (and yes, wesley may only be almost three, but this kid is vocal and definitely has his own opinions)
here is the problem.  i do not have a lot of time and so i am PLEADING for your good ideas!  i thought about making little peter pan felt knives (and wesley has been practicing knighting me, how cute to have him knight his little cousins???  i know i know, that's the prince eric theme) but then i have this mother guilt about the kids knifing each other he whole time and everyone talking about how i encourage violence.
what do you think?  anyone?  bueller??
so besides the knives, i am at an impasse.  peter pan hats?  i think i could, green felt, two upside down triangles, felt feather?  i don't think these little ones are quite ready to make their own.
what about the little lost boys with their indian feathers?  politically incorrect or cute and fun?
i am already thinking a sheet cake with a round cake cut in half and perched on top like a pirate ship.
games?  walk the plank?
i have 16 days to get it together.  heaven help me.
have i mentioned that i am looking for ideas???
(yes, i know this is a little bit obsessive for a 3 year old.  i think i mentioned that already.  give me a break, i like the mom stuff)

  2. i think the little sash and hat idea would be awesome. Actually, it wouldn't be too hard to make each person a full little outfit. Serve a Lost Boys Lunch Box and keep it simple. Esp. since the lost boys didn't have mothers to throw them parties.

maybe have a game of pin the hook on the captain or 'pin the wings on tink' or some variation.

And I wouldn't be too worried about being PC. It's overrated and people can choose to have fun or choose to be offended.

  3. It sounds cute and I like the theme. So the hats I think are a great idea. Just sew two pieces of green felt together with an elastic band so it stays on their heads. You could just let them pick their own feather... or maybe even Wesley could.

The sheet cake idea seems like a lot to tackle. Just make it easy on yourself and do pudding or something. Do they make blue pudding for water? You could die vanilla blue. Then you could just stick little pirate ships on that and an island. I'm sure you can find Island and Pirate ships in the toy isle or at a party store.

I agree with Chelsea on sandwiches and not worry about being PC. The walk the plank game also sounds cute. You could cut alligators out of green construction paper and make them just walk a line and not fall into the alligators.

Seems like a great theme and just assign your time to get it all done. Wesley has a great mom!

  4. I think a pinata would be fun in the shape of a "HOOK" Then have the kids take a hit at that with a baseball bat shaped as a knife. How fun Can you believe that these babies are growing up so fast!!!
